Hi, I’m Brenna

Entrepreneur and stylist behind Salon, Blush in Bedford, Iowa. Here is my winding road to Salon Blush.

I grew up on a farm near a small rural community. I have always had a creative streak and wore whatever I wanted, even if I stood out in my Southwest Iowa town!

Even though I loved color, design, and fashion, I didn’t picture myself as a stylist. I have a TON of hair and it was so unruly. I was terrible at styling it! But I sure loved having a professional do my hair!

I did tour a cosmetology school but ended up at Graceland University after high school. I tried out a communications major but just couldn’t stand the papers and pointless classes! I wanted excitement, creativity, and hands-on experience! I enrolled in hair school and the rest is history.

When I am not at the salon I am spending my moments with my sweet son Hutch who was born in May of 2023. My family and I live on a cattle farm with two cute border collies.

I’m an only child.
I was our county fair’s princess at age 4 and the queen at sweet 16!
I love to try new restaurants. The only food I DON’T like is grapefruit!
I am a total Kanas City Chiefs fan!
I love to travel but sometimes I keep it local and kayak.
Maybe not so surprising… But I love to shop!

Buying shoes is my biggest downfall
I live off of coffee

I grew up in a small town in Missouri. I spent all of my time at my home town dance studio from age 4-18. Hair and makeup is something I have always been passionate about.

I graduated highschool and couldn’t get out fast enough. I moved to West Des Moines Iowa and immediately fell in love with hair school. I found my passion for blonding and color very quick.

I thrive off of being able to look at a person and help them achieve their desired hair goals. Hair color is a true form of art and I live by that.

Shortly after I graduated I moved to a small town in Iowa and began my journey at Salon Blush. I can’t picture my life any other way. I’m beyond blessed that I’m able to do what I love.

Hi! I’m am Kylee Smith

I joined Salon blush in April of 2023.

I graduated from Aveda Institute in West Des Moines where I learned to love different coloring techniques and helping clients find the color and style that makes them glow. I also enjoy working with male clients to find a cut that suits them.

Since graduation and during my time behind the chair, I have became certified in extensions and love watching my clients experience the joy of feeling their best!

My life outside of the salon is enjoyed with my finance, Brody, and our two dogs, Riley and Keeta, at our home in Mount Ayr. On most weekends you can find us cheering on the Hawkeyes and spending time outdoors.
